At Island Psychiatry, we work as an out-of-network provider with regard to commercial insurance companies. We are enrolled with Medicare as a 'Non-Par' provider, which guarantees patients with Medicare plans significant reimbursement.  

 

We understand that you may have concerns about the cost of treatment and we want to address them directly.

We believe that commercial health insurance companies create barriers which interfere with you receiving the best possible care. For Island Psychiatry, our decision to avoid becoming a network provider is not about fees. It's about who controls your care. Insurance companies insist that their in-network providers sign contracts which place too much control in the hands of the company. Essentially, it allows them to dictate treatment decisions.

In an effort to diminish these barriers, we offer the following solutions:

• Thoughtful approach to maximizing cost effectiveness of care.

• Assistance with determination of your out-of-network benefits.

• Electronic claim submission on your behalf to ensure the fastest reimbursement possible from your insurance company (for those eligible.)

• When possible for specialty services (such as TMS and ketamine,) assistance with obtaining "single case agreements" in which we become "network providers" on a case by case basis.

• Ongoing attempts to keep our fees as affordable as possible and still attract the highest quality clinical and administrative staff.
